Members Present:  K. Bolinger, H. Chait, K. Gaul, L. Maule (Chair), T. Mulkey,  L.Rosenhein, S. Shure      

Absent:  S. Eley, A. Sinha      

Executive Committee Liaison: J. Hughes

 

1.  K. Bolinger moved approval of the minutes of Oct. 26, with K. Gaul seconding.  The motion passed 7-0-0.

 

2.  A clarification regarding the Oct. 12 minutes was discussed, and the minutes were amended accordingly. 

 

3.  The list of “Potential Changes in Health Coverage Plan 2008” from C. Barton was discussed.  S. Shure said that the President’s Benefits Review Committee has not yet met.  The situation of newer faculty who will not be covered by retirement health benefits was discussed.  L. Maule asked that a junior faculty member be appointed to the committee.  FEBC will oversee developments on this committee.

                     Shure intends to forward to FEBC members a web URL from a national organization listing good health plans.  It was agreed that after reviewing that document, FEBC will deliberate recommendations regarding changes to the ISU plan.                    

                     A faculty member who has inquired about gastric bypass surgery will be invited to address this coverage at a Spring semester meeting of FEBC.

 

4.   K. Bolinger spoke to the issue of salary compression.  He suggested that we consider  a compensation model that includes compression, rather than addressing it only as an adjustment to be made when extra money is available.
