1.  K. Bolinger moved approval of the minutes of Oct. 12 and Oct. 19, with L. Rosenhein seconding.  The motion passed 5-0-0.

 

2.  C. Barton distributed information about long-term disability coverage in peer institutions.  It supports the higher disability coverage that has been proposed by FEBC.  L. Maule will forward this information to the Faculty Senate.  She will also provide comparative information on the number of years of service needed to qualify for disability health benefits.

                     Barton also reviewed with the committee her Awish list@ of additions to ISU health coverage.  She noted that expenses have been lower than projected for the last two years, which indicates that some additional coverage will be affordable.  (The savings are currently held in an internal reserve account.)  Proposed changes will be designed such that they will not involve higher costs that could negatively affect salary increases.  She also explained the current three-tiered system of health benefits premiums, in which employees with higher salaries are paying higher premiums.

 

                     The potential for the internal reserve to be used to contribute to the VEBA trust was discussed.
