| Abstract: | Languages are dynamic and fluid constructions.Their evolution cannot be stopped unless they die out at most merely slowed.By studying the evolution and adoption of potato-related terms in english, linguists can clearly see the active nature of language change through a variety of influences, the relation of the terminology to standardization, and a demonstration of the principle of linguistic relativity. |
