Allen, S. Kiger, D. Malooley, R. Peters, L. Rosenhein, C. Stemmans, D. Worley Student members: Ex-officio: D. Collins, S. Gick, H. Hudson, L. Maule Executive Committee Liaison: SAMy Anderson Absent: M. Murphy: Washington Conference, V. Muyumba: Library Budget hearing Guests: Michael Millington-Statesman, M. Chambers, M. Schafer R. Peters called the meeting to order at 3:06 PM. 1. A motion to approve the minutes of meeting #8, 2-26-09, was made and passed, 6-0-0, (Worley/Rosenhein). 2. M. Chambers presented the proposal from Political Science for revision of the B.A./B.S. Legal Studies Major. Several modifications/corrections were proposed. The revised document will be reviewed at the next meeting. 3. L. Maule began the review process of the Proposed Foundational Studies Program. The origins and development through the Task Force, campus community, and the General Education Council was discussed in detail. The proposed structure of the thirteen areas was also presented and discussed in some detail with many questions and engaged enlightenment. Areas of concern by CAAC parallel those of the Task Force, the campus community, and the GE Council. i.e. QL/Math, Non-Native Language, Health and Wellness, and Integrative Upper-Division Elective requirements. Discussion will continue and will focus on the Policies section at the next meeting. 4. The sub-committee for the creation of definitions and what constitutes Colleges, Schools, and Departments at Indiana State University has not met since Spring Break. .5. The EC has not met since Spring Break to discuss the charge concerning reorganization of academic units. 6. SAMy Anderson provided a report from the Executive Committee. The E.C. has been reviewing presentations by Deans and reviewing By-laws and organizations of Colleges. No new curriculum related items have been presented. 7. L. Maule stated the General Education Council will meet Friday to discuss structure of documents that will be required for proposals for submission for courses seeking approval as Foundational Studies courses. 8.
